Drinking Water Bureau

About Us

The New Mexico Environment Department (NMED) is one of dozens of State departments, each of which is led by a Governor-appointed Secretary. The NMED Secretary re-organized the Department in 2015 establishing five Divisions: Administrative Service, Environmental Protection, Operational Support, Resource Protection, and Water Protection. The Drinking Water Bureau (DWB) is one of four (4) bureaus within the Water Protection Division.

The DWB organizational structure consists of four groups, each of which is designed to align functions and funding sources.  The group structure also distinguishes regulatory programs from assistance programs. The four groups are: Public Water System Supervision (PWSS), Sustainable Water Infrastructure Group (SWIG), Water Conservation Fund Group (WCF), Program Administration Group (PAG). The structure is designed to meet program objectives; to establish planning and direction to the organizational entities; and to establish clear lines of communication to receive input and provide feedback to support process improvement and efficient implementation of program activities.

Please see the Drinking Water Bureau staff information on the DWB Directory page.
