Technical Assistance
The Technical Services Team (TST) includes two Technical Services Coordinators (Santa Fe and Las Cruces) who are available to respond to requests for technical assistance. Please refer to this map for their contact information and their statewide geographical responsibilities.
Requests for Technical Assistance
Systems are eligible for technical assistance through requests from:
- New Mexico Environment Department (NMED) Office of the Secretary
- Direct requests from the water system
- Direct requests from outside agencies working with water system
- Environmental Protection Agency enforcement staff
- NMED Drinking Water Bureau (DWB) enforcement staff
- Project Interest Form requests for funding
- DWB Public Water System Supervision Group Compliance Program
- DWB Community Service Team
Types of Technical Assistance
Technical Service Team activities include:
- Safe Drinking Water Act compliance and return-to-compliance
- Technical Capacity Assessments A capacity review of minimum technical criteria (certified operator, Distribution System Sample Plan, Operation & Maintenance Plan, Emergency Response Plan)
Types of water systems eligible for technical capacity assessment and assistance
- New community water systems
- New non-transient non-community water systems
- Existing community water systems with a history of significant noncompliance
- Existing non-transient non-community water systems with a history of significant noncompliance
- Water systems that participate in the Area Wide Optimization Program (AWOP)
- Water systems that have applied for public funding
- Operational and Maintenance (O&M) Technical Assistance
- Distribution System Sample Plan (DSSP)
- Emergency Response Plan (ERP)
