NM OSHA Accident Report for Employers

Reporting Accidents:

Report a COVID-19 Positive Employee

 

OSHA’s updated recordkeeping rule expands the list of severe injuries and illnesses that employers must report to OSHA. As of Jan. 1, 2016, all employers under NM-OSHA jurisdiction must report:

  1. All work-related fatalities within 8 hours.
  2. All work-related inpatient hospitalizations, amputations and losses of an eye within 24 hours.

As August, 5th, 2020, the New Mexico Environment Department requires employers to report positive COVID-19 cases in the workplace.

  1.  Each employer shall report, within 4 hours of learning, that an employee tested positive for COVID-19.
  2. A work related case where COVID-19 was determined to be most likely contracted in the workplace.
  3. A COVID-19 related fatality when the case has been determined to be most likely contracted in the workplace.

  1. Calling NM OSHA’s free and confidential number at 1-877-610-OSHA (6742).
